Job Description

Position Overview: 

The IT Security Technical Systems Consultant (TSC) focuses on architecture, strategy, governance, and risk management methodologies to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the enterprise’s global information assets.  This position will include a high degree of judgment in the consideration of acceptable risk, residual risk and the identification of sufficient compensating controls and mitigation actions.  Using an in-depth knowledge of information security processes and technologies, the IT TSC facilitates the implementation of cybersecurity improvements which may involve identification, testing, and implementation.  The IT TSC is responsible for developing strategies and roadmaps that address current and anticipated cybersecurity threats and enablement of secure business operations.  Additionally, the candidate is expected to promote security best practices within Information Technology and business functions globally.  Finally, this position serves as a solution architect and advisor for complex projects to mitigate risk to acceptable levels by balancing total cost of ownership and IT services.


  • Serve as architect and thought leader for Information Security technologies and initiatives.
  • Research new security technologies, methods and standards for feasibility and appropriateness for McCormick use by evaluating business strategies and requirements.  Establish proof of concepts, either hands-on or through other subject matter experts.
  • Perform risk management activities such as Third-Party Risk Assessments, design to build risk analysis, vulnerability analysis, and threat intelligence.
  • Lead Information Security projects as a project manager (e.g., project plans, schedules, budget, resource needs).
  • Work with service providers, vendors, IT, and business units to identify appropriate protections and controls to safeguard confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organizations information assets.
  • Perform escalation support for Security infrastructure technologies (e.g., firewalls, remote access, public key infrastructure, malware protections).
  • Provide leadership and in-depth analysis for security related investigations.
  • Develop policies, procedures, guidelines and other related material to support IT Security strategies.
  • Report regular status updates to Office of Chief Information Officer (OCISO) on initiatives and projects. 
  • Serve as a back-up to the Manager on projects and daily operations.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to IT Security team members.
  • On-call coverage per rotational schedule and post implementation project support to include evenings and weekends.  

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline (combination of experience and technical certifications may be considered in lieu of degree).
    • Minimum 10 years of in-depth hands-on Information Technology infrastructure experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of expertise in Information Security technologies.
    • Advanced security certification (e.g., CISSP, CEH) - (may consider other related IT certifications).
    • Minimum of 2 years proven experience leading projects from initiation to completion.
    • Team player with ability to lead self and others in design, implementation, and problem solving.
    • Ability to handle complex issues with little to no direction.

      • Ability to work within a global enterprise group.
        • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot complex issues.
        • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
        • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with all levels in the organization
